THE NEIGHBORHOOD

A Lake in Walnut Creek?  Most people are surprised to learn that there is a Lake in the City of Walnut Creek.  It is private, has a lot of history and is central to the neighborhood.

The Lakewood Area is close to downtown Walnut Creek.  It runs along both sides of Homestead Drive (off Ygnacio Valley Road) from  Marshall  Drive to the corner of Walnut Boulevard at Homestead and East up the hill to the Shell Ridge Open Space.

The area west of Homestead is traditionally referred to as “Lower Lakewood”.   It currently consists of over five hundred homes, one elementary school, one swim club, one private lake, and an entrance to Shell Ridge Open Space.

The LAKEWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD has easy access to downtown Walnut Creek.  One neighbor called it “From rustic to upscale” in less than a mile.  He was referring to the charming tree studded winding streets on one hand and the newer upscale downtown shopping center with Tiffany’s.  It is also close to BART and Highway 680 for commuters.  Home prices in the 2006 market range from the low $700,000’s to over $1,500,000.
